Today is Monday March 29th, and that means only four more days till the LONG awaited first doctor's appointment for this sweet baby! And as you can imagine I am almost crazy with anticipation!!
We go to Forest Women's Center at 10:30a.m. Friday morning. From what everyone is telling me, we not only will hear the heart beat, but there is a chance we will learn the sex of the baby too! That would be really really fun; so then we can just start on the baby room! I can't wait for that part! I think I'll feel a whole lot more relaxed once that is done & I know we're ready!
This weekend was a really good weekend, we went hiking with our friends Luke & Stephanie. We hiked Peaks of Otter...it was a little tough, but Steph & I made it up there in 50 minutes. The guys made it up in 30....so not to shabby for this pregnant lady to almost keep up! :)
Then on Sunday the lil guy (or girl) was going crazy moving all around! My friends Stephanie & Angel got to feel it move! I was SO excited to share that with someone else, because up until that point only one other person (Shea) had felt the baby move. I think baby gets shy when I try to make him/her perform & kick for people! haha :) But on Sunday morning both Angel & Steph felt it!
I love feeling this baby move! Its quite the experience! And I'm so glad that God knows me better than I know myself! I didn't know what I would be missing by only choosing to adopt, but missing out on this experience would have really been a bummer. I'm so grateful he knows me better than I know myself. So grateful.♥
Also yesterday was the first time I felt nausea too. I think I must have just got too hungry or something but around 11:00am I was feeling really sick! I had to find Jeremy & ask him to help me find some bread or crackers to munch on. In the mean time of him finding me some, I got the rest of the communion crackers from Britni & chomped on those. Then Jeremy brought me two cup fulls of animal crackers! Haha so I was set! But boy did it help. So must have just been I was too hungry.
But all in all I am feeling well...only really "discomforts" have been the ligaments in my lower belly have been hurting every now & then. I read that is because of a growing baby...so I can endure that pain! :)
But hope all is well with everyone & that you have a wonderful week! You know I'll be posting more! :)

One Week!!
Well today marks one week until my first Dr. appointment! From what everyone is speculating it will not only be the 1st one, but the one I found out the sex of the baby!!! Boy wouldn't that be a trip! Its been a long time coming for this appointment but we are finally almost there!! Yippy!!
In other news...I have to tell you Jeremy's dream!
Last night he had a dream that we were sitting on the couch & I started to push in on my belly because the baby was kicking. (Which happens pretty much every night, we sit down to watch TV & the baby starts moving...).
Well then the baby started to move more & we could see the outline of him/her...and apparently we both were like "That is a really weird shaped baby!" (I guess the shape was not a normal shape for a baby....haha).
Well then, he said, all of a sudden I went into labor (on the couch)...as if that isn't odd enough....but then he said I birthed a CAT!!! BHAHAHAHHAA oh my gosh! hahaha A CAT!
Jeremy said he was so disappointed in his dream because he wanted a baby & we got a cat!! In the dream he said "I hate cats, what are we going to do with a cat!?!?"
So then, while still in his dream...he was thinking to himself, this is a weird dream...I should wake up.
So he woke himself up!
OH man! I think that is just hilarious!!!
Happy Friday everyone, hope its a great day!! ♥

My Assignment
My time with the Lord today was just really sweet. I am doing a devotional book by Beth Moore & today was such a good reminder. She started out in Luke 9:1-6. This scripture talks about how Jesus sends out the 12 disciples & how He gave them all power & authority to drive out all demons, to cure diseases, heal the sick & sent them out to preach the kingdom of God.
Beth was talking about how she thought it was interesting that this was for a specific task. She also believes the concepts of calling & task are often confused in the body of Christ. She said in her own experience she assumed that speaking was her "calling." She said God made it very clear to her that her "calling" was to surrender her life everyday to His will. To do what He asked, whatever it was. She goes on to say that she realized that God did not want her to be hung up on the kind of assignment He gave her; whether that was speaking to 100 people or rocking one baby in the nursery. Her calling was to be abandoned to Him.
I just loved this because so many times I get stuck on the one thing I feel like He called me to; for example adoption. And some how I miss the fact that He is still in control & all I am supposed to do is remain faithful to my one true "calling" & that is to:
Surrender to God in whatever He asks of me.
I love this! This was a good reminder for me this morning!

I've got the Cramps....
Yes...for some reason I have had excruciating leg & foot cramps! Ugh they are horrible! I've done everything I know to make them stop, but it just isn't working. They seem to be getting stronger & stronger too. Like last night I think I had 4 in one night. One that would not give!
I made it through the night cramp free!! Normally that is when I get the worst of it.
But then this morning had to pull over on my way to work because I had one so bad in my foot. I pulled the car over & had to walk it out. Thank goodness I wasn't late for work! I'm sure that would be a first for them...yeah I'm late because I had to pull over to tend to my FOOT CRAMP! haha yeah! wow.
So if anyone has any suggestions on how to get rid of these blasted leg/foot cramps I'm all ears!
In other news, I told my boss today about our little bundle of joy coming to stay with us. :)
He took the news very well, congratulated me & told me to enjoy the process! So that was good! I was nervous that he would be upset seeing as I've only been here a month or so. But he seemed good, and I assured him I would be coming back.
So now starts the daunting task of finding child care. BLAH! Again, anyone in the Lynchburg area know of a good babysitter/nanny/day cares...I'm open to suggestions.

Sick
Well for the past 4 days or so Jeremy & I have been sick. I think we are on the downhill side of things, but still coughing & really stuffy. I have more energy than I did this weekend, I don't think I saw the light of day on Saturday. I got out a little on Sunday morning, but then came home & slept for an hour, had lunch then slept another 4 hours! I was out of it! But today was the first time I worked out in a week, and that was harder than its been, but seems like we are on the downhill side.
In other news, I just talked with my Mom & she told me my brother & sister in law are going to be in town over Memorial Day weekend, the same weekend I'm in Colorado! I'm so excited to meet my nephew Mason! So that was a really fun surprise!
And she also told me that everyone is flying out for Thanksgiving this year to be with us & the baby!! i can't believe by Thanksgiving I will have a child. And for Christmas too!
My my how a year changes things! :)
I'm SUPER excited though & can't wait to meet this little guy (or girl) its going to be such a blast...along with hard work (as I keep hearing) haha. But I'm so ready for it! Jeremy has been really fun too just getting into things & gearing his mind toward the time we meet the little one! Its been amazing for me to watch him during this process! Such a dream come true for sure!
In baby news...I'm still the same belly width that hasn't changed, and my weight keeps fluctuating up & down by two pounds...I'm assuming that is water? But all in all have only gained 4lbs! Not to shabby I think! But baby is moving & kicking daily now! I love that I recognize what it feels like so I know right when he/she is moving! Its been fun just to chat with baby too! They say by now he/she should be able to hear me...so here's hoping! :)
Have a good day everyone!

Crib & Stroller
So I have been looking at this crib for about 3 years now...yes I realize a child was not in sight 3 years ago, but I just loved this one! I can't wait till we start working on the baby room & this little beauty can go in it!
And here is the stroller we're looking at! Jeremy has been really cute in researching the best stuff. This Chicco stroller gets the best safety ratings, so I think this is the one we will get. You know me & all my accidents! Baby has to have the best/safest stuff! :)
And in other news...Baby has been really active tonight, kicking & moving around or something in there! But feels like he/she is having a ball in there whatever they are doing! Now that I've been noticing/feeling things..I'm thinking...I have to be farther along...only 3 more weeks tomorrow & we'll know for sure!! YAY!

First Time Flutters!
(April 9, 2010: In reality I was 24 weeks along when I felt my "first time flutters!")
So! Ok. Yesterday.
I was just getting home from work yesterday & as I stood up I felt this "Flutter" feeling deep inside my belly. It was a feeling I had never felt, and it made me stop for a second...then I was like huh, must just be digestion or something. So I went on my way & didn't think twice about it.
THEN today at work, was walking with a coworker Trudy & she asked me, so have you felt the baby move yet? I was like...what does it feel like & she explained that its this little vague "flutter" feeling. Almost like butterflies flying around. I couldn't believe it. Her description was exactly what I felt yesterday!
So then I come back to my desk from lunch...and FEEL IT AGAIN!!! This articles explains it perfectly....especially the part about playing it off as "stomach digestion"...and the flutter feeling...how exciting!!! I feel SO blessed that the Lord is allowing me to experience this!
Here is the article:
When You Feel the Baby Move
The following is from "Your Pregnancy Companion" by Janis Graham:
"As you wait for the time when you'll start to feel your baby move, it's not uncommon to become a little anxious, to worry, 'Why haven't I felt anything yet?' It helps to keep the following two things in mind.
"First, while some women feel fetal movements as early as fourteen weeks, most mothers-to-be (especially first-time mothers) only discern movements after eighteen or twenty-one weeks (or even as late as twenty-six weeks).
"Second, it's not always easy to recognize first fetal movements, since early movements are not usually experienced as distinct jabs or kicks but indistinct, vague "flutterings" or sinking sensations that are easy to mistake for digestive rumblings. In other words, feeling your baby's first movements may not be a clearly demarcated "event" for you but a series of suspicions ("I think that was the baby moving") that finally add up to certainty."
Here are more comments from WikiAnswers contributors:
This is my first time pregnant and I felt the baby move at about 15 weeks
This is my first pregnancy and I first definitely felt my little boy move at 18 weeks, 4 days. It was awesome. And then strangely enough - I felt him move every single day since then - and each day they become more and more distinct. I'm amazed at how quickly I've gone from not feeling anything - to feeling him move several times throughout the day. He mainly moves shortly after I eat and when I first lay down to go to bed at night. At first they felt like little bubbles bursting against the inside of my belly and then they started feeling like a fish bumping against my belly - and now they are definite kicks.
With my daughter, I felt her move at 16 weeks, just like butterflies........with this pregnancy, I cannot even believe it myself, but I felt the baby move at 11 1/2 weeks.......I first felt those butterflies a few days ago and told myself it was my imagination, but tonight, I felt KICKS!! Tiny, soft kicks, and my husband actually felt it twice............ Unbelievable, what a gift this is..............
I believe for a first pregnancy somewhere between 15-22 weeks is normal.
Yes, you would usually feel the baby move when you get to be between 16-22 weeks. But with mothers who have had more than one pregnancy, they will most of the time feel the baby moving earlier, since their uterus has stretched enough from previous pregnancies. But sometimes, its different for all women.

Surprise!
Well Jeremy got his first baby gift! :)
He was looking at the "Dude Diaper Bag" from Target. I thought it was so sweet he was looking at that, that I surprised him & bought it for him!
He went home on his lunch break & got it! He was really surprised!!! (This is so fun!) :)
And in other news...I should be right around my 12th week...its amazing to know that this is what it looks like in my belly:
Its becoming more and more real with each day! I know once the April 2nd appointment happens we will just feel so much more secure in this whole thing & feel more at ease to keep moving forward!

Baby Room
Ok all I can say is I'm going to pop. I can't even begin to tell you what it means to me to have my husband getting into this baby thing!
The above picture is one that HE PICKED OUT for an idea on how to decorate a baby room! Ugh! He knows me SO well! I LOVE THIS! Absolutely love this! He is being so amazing & I can't wait till he's a Daddy! I might REALLY pop at the sight of that! ♥
Weekend
It was a really good weekend! Jer & I talked a lot about the baby! :)
Its becoming so fun, and I think we are really getting into this! The first thing was, that I was upstairs getting ready, doing my hair when I got a text message from him. He goes: "What about Ella, if its a girl" I was ecstatic! I love just the fact that he's THINKING about names & that he came up with a girl name! He's so cute! So we this is just the beginnings & ideas...but we like Ella Jane if its a girl. We might change up the middle name, but we are still at the very beginning stages, and a lot can change! I just thought it was super sweet he was thinking of names. ♥ ♥
The next thing was, I went to church on Saturday night & Sunday night & that was the first time that the mass public knew! it was mayhem! Everyone was touching my belly & ooh & aahhh'ing over the fact that I am pregnant. It was fun...not used to people touching me so much...but hey...that is all part of it! :) Its pretty incredible this whole process so far!
I've noticed more symptoms this weekend than I have before...the first being heart burn. (ouch!) I had heart burn Friday & Saturday nights, and then a little on Sunday afternoon too. Man that hurts! I need to figure out if I'm eating too much or too fast, or the type of foods...or if this is just how it is...but yeah heart burn is not fun.
And the other thing was the gas kicked up a notch this weekend! I've been super gassy...they say this happens, and apparently they are right! I also noticed at nights my stomach will swell...I looked it up online & here is what it had to say about why that happens:
Don't be surprised if you find yourself belching like a champion beer drinker or having to unbutton your pants to relieve bloating weeks before you begin to show.
Why does this happen? The primary reason is that during pregnancy you have much higher levels of progesterone, a hormone that relaxes smooth muscle tissue throughout your body, including your gastrointestinal tract. This relaxation slows down your digestive processes so your baby gets the nutrients they need, which can lead to gas, bloating, burping, and flatulence and generally create miserable sensations in your gut, especially after a big meal.In later pregnancy, your growing uterus crowds your abdominal cavity, further slowing digestion, and pushes on your stomach, making you feel even more bloated after eating. During pregnancy, you may also start to experience heartburn or constipation, even if you've never been bothered by either one before.
I thought that was pretty interesting...at least I know why...another site said it could be due to a slower metabolism as well...which I know I have!
Its been really fun over all, I'm learning so much!!

Front Page News
Well...today marks the day that the mass majority of people know about the pregnancy! Jeremy decided to tell staff today! There were a bunch of people talking about if I was or not...so I told him I thought it'd be a good idea if he told them today so they don't hear it from someone else. He was undecided on if he was going to or not, but the cell phone & emails haven't stopped since 2! So I guess he decided to go for it! :)
I'm excited, we are a part of such an amazing community that this stuff is so fun to walk through life with them. They are outstanding people & dearly love us, soI'm so excited to finally have the secret out!
Now if we could just get to April 2nd we could meet the little fellow! (or little girl)! :)

Dr. Appointment
Well...I got an appointment. Not as quickly as I wanted to though. :( I was quite bummed actually to find out that the soonest either Doctors offices could get me in was April 2nd. That is still a whole month away! So disappointing. I guess in my expectations I hoped they would get me in this week. Apparently not. Oh well though, we've waited this long, we can keep waiting...and I will just keep plugging along like normal. I am just sticking with what my family Dr. said & she said according to my blood work, I was 6 or 7 weeks on Feb. 22nd...so that would put a due date on or around September 21st. Which means I'm right around 10 or 11 weeks this week....look at what is happening at 11 weeks:
Your baby, just over 1 1/2 inches long and about the size of a fig, is now almost fully formed. Her hands will soon open and close into fists, tiny tooth buds are beginning to appear under her gums, and some of her bones are beginning to harden.
She's already busy kicking and stretching, and her tiny movements are so effortless they look like water ballet. These movements will become more frequent as her body grows and becomes more developed and functional. You won't feel your baby's acrobatics for another month or two — nor will you notice the hiccuping that may be happening now that her diaphragm is forming.
This is all just so incredible to me. I am SO excited...and excited to know that I am out of the 1st trimester in 2 weeks! that is a relief...I'm not sure when we will go public with all of this news...but I'm sure it won't be long! So until next time! Hope life is well on your end...

1st Shopping Trip
Yesterday my friend Andy & I went to Roanoke on a little shopping trip. We had to go first because I am in Erica's wedding April 24th in Chicago & my bridesmaid dress is not going to fit due to my sweet little baby bump. So I had to exchange it for a bigger size. Then we went to the mall because I broke down & finally had to buy some maternity clothes. I still can't find any pants that will work for me, but I did find this thing called a belly band that will allow you to wear your old pants but keep them unbuttoned. You put the band around the top of the pants & it will hold them up! The girl in the store swore by them....so I gave it a shot! So far so good! I put it on yesterday & walked around & it was working! So yay temporary fix!
Also in the Motherhood store there was a girl about my age, my height, same hair cut & everything! But she was the same story as I was....didn't know she was pregnant, and her bump was about the size of mine, maybe a little bigger, and she was 13 weeks along...so I'm guessing from what I'm reading, and stuff that I'm right around 10 or 11 weeks. We are still waiting on that insurance card! Once I get it though the Dr. appointment will be made!

Hot flashes?
OK so, I haven't had many pregnancy "symptoms" so far. I've been super blessed to not have that dreaded morning sickness that I hear plagues so many Mommies to be. I haven't been moody (well I guess you should ask Jeremy that...but from my perspective I haven't! ha), I haven't been craving anything. I have felt pretty normal. One night I did experience some heart burn for the first time ever, yeah ouch! That does not feel good! But for the most part the only way I can tell I'm pregnant has been because of the belly that I'm growing. And currently it looks like I had 12 too many doughnuts! But its cute & there is a life growing, so I'll take it.
All that to say....until this week:
So I have had this thing for the past few days that I've been chalking off to "its just cold in this office" but I think I'm putting two & two together...and I'm pretty sure it has to do with the hormones or something....BUT! Around like 9 or 10 in the morning, I am sitting at my desk & all of a sudden I get this thing where my face is like literally on FIRE. It is so hot, but then my feet & hands will be ICE cold! All at the same time! How is this possible?! My face gets so hot that it will start throbbing! Haha But then my feet & hands feel like I've been holding ice.
I have no clue what this is, I'm assuming its hormones...but man!
Has this ever happened to any of you?

8 weeks...So we think
So according to what the Dr. said I should be entering week 8. We won't know for 100% sure until we get to the baby Dr. & have an ultrasound. From everything I've been reading I'm more around 10 or 11weeks along, accroding to the size of my belly & the things I'm experiencing...but for now...this is where we are.
Your pregnancy: 8 weeks
New this week: Webbed fingers and toes are poking out from your baby's hands and feet, his eyelids practically cover his eyes, breathing tubes extend from his throat to the branches of his developing lungs, and his "tail" is just about gone. In his brain, nerve cells are branching out to connect with one another, forming primitive neural pathways. You may be daydreaming about your baby as one sex or the other, but the external genitals still haven't developed enough to reveal whether you're having a boy or a girl. Either way, your baby — about the size of a kidney bean — is constantly moving and shifting, though you still can't feel it.
See what's going on in your uterus this week:
Note: Every baby develops a little differently — even in the womb. Our information is designed to give you a general idea of your baby's development.
You may notice that your bra is getting more snug. Soon you'll likely need a larger size with better support. Rising levels of hormones cause breast growth and other tissue changes, all in preparation for lactation. Your breasts may continue to grow throughout pregnancy. Don't be surprised if you go up a cup size or two, especially if it's your first baby. Keep this in mind, and allow for room to grow when investing in a new bra.
Feeling fatigued? Hormonal changes — in particular, a dramatic rise in progesterone — may be contributing to your sluggishness. Nausea and vomiting can certainly cost you energy, too. And you may be having trouble getting a good night's sleep at this point, especially if you're uncomfortable or find you need to get up to pee.

Doctor Visit
The most noticeable thing that happened with me last week was that I had this pretty bad pain in my lower pelvic region on the right side. I also was having the urge to go to the bathroom right after having gone...after reading these could be signs of a UTI (Urinary Tract Infection). Since I have had a kidney infection...I thought I better err on the side of caution, so I called my Doctor. I went in around 9am on Saturday (Feb. 27th, 2010) and come to find out it wasn't a UTI! (YAY!) What it was, was there are ligaments in the lower pelvic area that could cause pain or bring soreness due to the fact there is a growing baby inside. So I thought that little bit of pain was worth it! :) I am very relieved I found out though, so now I will know what it is.
Another thing this weekend that I had to do was lay this down too. I was really scared at first just of the unknown but this isn't about me. Its about God & the story He is writing, so I just need to sit back & let him do His work. There is no sense in me getting all jacked up & worried over something...I really have NO control over. So I let this go & what will be, will be & I will praise Him in every season, good or bad. So that was so freeing to do & I feel like I'm able to breathe a little better.
All in all, I am getting really excited for this little one! And I am so thankful I've not felt sick or had hardly any symptoms, its been smooth sailing so far! I am hoping to get my insurance card this week, so we can make our first appointment, to finally find out just how far along I am. Everything I'm reading says I'm in between 8-11 weeks...but we'll see once I get the ultrasound. Once I have my insurance card in hand the baby Dr. said they will get us right in...so I'm excited!
Hope you all have a great 1st day of March! I know I am! :)
